An invite over for Helen's Belated BD Dinner

Last saturday we invited ms helen n jifa over for dinner with aunty kim and aunty chia.
because we thought so long about a place for makaning for dinner to meet up, and we couldn't decide on a proper place, ThiRak Darling Ak decided to do the cooking.

Its also for Helen's Birthday sincerely for her because i didnt do anythingy for her.
tsk tsk me.

so my hubby did something by cooking for her.

I am never a cook, just a washer and cleaner in the housey so i watched them.

when susan tele me saying i had a post a few days ago, to go over her room to collect, from ADELINE she mentioned, i was puzzled.

So i went over, and it was indeed from ADELINE LAW. B1 she indicated.

Was wondering how the world Susan knew was ADELINE LAW, since there wasn't any name in the envelope, she said :" its her handwriting.. "

yeah, one unique handwriting, no one can copycat it, caused it's real straight neat like a proper neat girl.

A little Chat Bet on Helen

when we couldn't find the photos that Helen has taken on our gathering Friday evening for steamboat makaning,
i decided to buzz Yvonne and see if she has grabbed from elsewhere.
But we couldn't locate the photos still (steel), so while waiting for the photos to be posted,
we had a little chat.
That turns out to be a bet
if Helen would reply to my bloggie chat first or POST ONLINE on her bloggie first.

So i took reply to chat, while Yvonne chosed POST ONLINE first.
the loser was to buy a CHEAP RED WINE on our christmas gathering (to be arranged).

however,

if Helen does MSN us first, then HELEN has to buy us the WINE!

Marinated meats for steamboat soup????

Just when we thought the last Thursday dinner was the last dinner for the festival this month, our uncle forgotten to mention to us about the Sunday aljunied dinner.

So he did at the last minute on last Sunday. Aljunied home was where my paternal grandmother stayed previously and until today, my uncle is actively involved in that area, more to charity side of area.

Then prior before that, on the same week Friday, we met yvonne helen and jifa for a steamboat dinner.

It was alright at first until…

Let me describe the sections of different food first.

The serving buffet area uncooked food had 2 different sections,

1. Meats for steamboat. Meats were sliced thinly for steamboat-ing. You picked the meats for steamboat-ing and bring the uncooked meats to your own table where you could start to dip into the steamboat with boiling soup.

2. Meats for bbq-ing. Meats for bbq-ing were extra large and were already well MARINATED / seasoned. You picked whatever you could makan and bring to the cooking cooks to bbq/stir fry for you and the waiter will served the cooked food to you.

So…

He ha! Jifa choosed the meats for bbq-ing and brought to the table for steamboat-ing. Of course, non of us realised, (I would be worst I think...).'
Thinking why the meats were so large, so large for a steak serving it looked, but we didn't bother to think furthur.

We didn’t’ bother to question and in the middle of our makaning, took the large meats and dipped into the steamboat.

After a while,

The soup was horrible to taste, it was TOO sweet and taste weird.

At the end it was unbearable too makan. Realising too late that the LARGE MEATS that were WELL MARINATED & SEASONED was meant for dry –cooking and not for steamboat-ing and the WELL MARINATED MEATS seasoning had dissolved in our soups…. Spoiling it all together.

But it was too late, either we were sick with the soup already or we were too full. Lucky we were to the end of the meal.

When Quek was chatty away in the taxi from Far East, i almost dozed off.

Yes we went to far East to meet our Aspen ex-colleagues, Mei-Jin, MeiMei, Aunty Nancy and Lee Ting for Chicken Rice and then coffee cum gossips...

THAT IS making me dozy dozy, yawn.... must be the heavy lunch we HAD!

also maybe last night of the water piping and online games that i slept soooo late...

We were at the Sembawang $%%&*(() chalet yesterday night, bugging bugging from the Yeng Yeng, paiseh at first but in the end we went anyway.

We had CHIVAS, large bottle!

BUT it was GOOD GATHERING, not noisy can TALK AND LAUGH GIGGLE... better than DISCO!

Things we did younger

10 years exactly ago, me and Adeline would fret over lunch
“EAT WHAT”

And everyday we will have to spend more TONS of time discussing what to eat.

and at the same time, we wanted to save money together.

So we created a spreadsheet. A spreadsheet that generate all the dates in that month or week,
And we put our lunch type on each day plus cost.

We never did follow the schedule to a month.

sometimes, we felt eating something differently from the planner, we HAD cravings.
Then we would start all over again to follow and then we never did follow finally.

and we would spend more money instead on food...

When unexpected things crop up

after weeks months of planning and arranging the kelong trip, one couple’s mother passed away this morning in Malacca!

Crayfish hor fun with See & MayMay

I was told to minimise my blogging for this luncheon but I had no choice, because the system had hung on me, and
Its not everyday that I eat with CLARA SEE and MAY LIM.
So
I had to pen it down, as a memory...

We had CHAR kway tiao crayfish hor fun at super duber hell-hot Hong Lim!
It was superbly humid but the food was good.
Definately, good cheap and wonderfully delicious.

(i could usd S$10 per 3 DAYS if i eat in HONGLIM everyday and go back office take coffee, maybe?? hemmm)


Btw, the dancer at the below, I see as a clockwise movement all the time this morning, It isn’t until now , I see a few seconds of anti-clockwise. Gosh!
Amazingly, our right and left brains see differently.

So does it mean that, we can be seeing the same thing at the same time, but with different angle??

It's a “de- javu” kind of thing, just went I had a dream about my friends last night, after lunch today I received a sms from Yvonne if I had contacted her.
??

So she rang me up and said she had a voice msg from a girl SOUNDED pretty much like me, her name Serena… and that’s about it.
Nope I definitely didn’t call her.
Maybe last night…. in my dreams.

The Holy Thursday

Seems that I have lost touch in doing posting, probably, because I learnt to love my bed so much that every night that I stepped into the room, its straight to the bed and Zzzz or 156.

The AK suggested to get Helen for dinner on Thursday night and thankfully, it was arranged quite nicely and we met at Chao Chu Kang Farmmart with Jifa.
Chicken Wings, Otah, Lala (not nice), Stingray, Fried Rice, Beer, Vege!

And then a little quick chat and then
We all went home.

Back to home and 156 on a Holy Thursday with Daddy and Mummy , we had in total a 3 bottles of liquor together with the group in 156.

Some high, some ok we sat till 4am, and was tired throughout the Friday! Daddy slept till 3pm, I slept the whole day, the AK was not too bad while he boiled herbs for me.
Mummy was the must energetic I think.
